Rise Above

We are deeply disappointed by the recent comments made that disregard the rich and enduring culture of our Aboriginal community, our Tagalaka community.

These attitudes, while disheartening, are not surprising. We have endured a long history of policies designed to erase our culture. Last year’s referendum has tested us as a society—it has perhaps brought out both the best and the worst in us. Sadly, it appears to have given some the license to be more vocal in their divisive opinions.

The Tagalaka Aboriginal Corporation will not acknowledge or promote any individual opinion that creates disharmony in our community.

The Tagalaka People are committed to moving beyond the pain of our history while preserving our culture for future generations.

In these challenging times, we must keep our heads held high and rise above such negativity. We have always been, and always will be, proud of who we are and the strength we carry within us.

Let these moments remind us of the work still to be done and let us continue to walk forward with dignity and unity.

We encourage a journey of learning about Aboriginal history and culture. By understanding the deep connection we have with this land and the richness of our traditions, you not only honor our ancestors but also contribute to a more respectful and united community. Embracing this knowledge fosters mutual respect and helps build a future where all cultures are valued and celebrated.
